It is difficult to classify SIEUR ET DAME on account of its burlesque universe, which some people find weird or « cracked ». Claire may start a lyrical song and her way of singing calls for a sacrilege.
Etienne begins an insane song and his way of singing summons lunatics. Both sharing the conviction that music can become the expression of our most distant depths, Sieur et Dame (Sir and Lady) have no bounds.
Just imagine the following anecdote: you venture into a pitch-black forest on a callous-kneed horse in the company of an old monkey and two will-o’-the-wisps, and just after getting to a glade, a smell of decadence and debauchery reaches your nostrils, and finally you realize from the hungry gaze of the animals around you that they want to eat you up and that you are back in the year 872…Then if you manage to understand that feeling, you will understand Sieur & Dame.
